Mariah Carey claims her sister ‘told her to take coke whilst on Valium aged 12’

Mariah Carey's new memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey is full of explosive bombshells.

And in the page-turning book - which came out on Monday - the hitmaker, 50, shed light on her life as a youngster and her fraught relationship with her older sister Alison.

The Butterfly singer shares in the story that Alison, as well as brother Morgan, resented her for her lighter skin and "blondish" hair and this is why they were not the best of friends.

In her book, Mariah details the shocking time that Alison - who was married at 15 after falling pregnant - "drugged" a 12-year-old Mariah and offered her cocaine.

The Grammy Award winner pens: "When I was 12 years old, my sister drugged me with Valium, offered me a pinky nail full of cocaine, inflicted me with third degree burns and tried to sell me out to a pimp."

The star goes on to add that Alison, she believes, recruited girls for her pimp friend named John and suspects that she was trying to recruit her to become a sex worker.

Mariah also reflects on Alison giving her third degree burns by pouring boiling hot tea over her, as she adds: "Alison has burned me in many ways and more times than I can count."

Alison has begged Mariah for a reconciliation throughout the years.

In a video posted online in 2016, mother-of-five Alison could be seen asking Mariah: "I love you, please don't abandon me."

In an interview with Now magazine in 2017, Alison - who's previously been arrested and charged with prostitution - tried to get her wealthy sister's attention and make amends by telling: "I've done things that were wrong, she's done things that were wrong.

"I've reached out to her many, many times throughout the years in every way I could think of to ask for forgiveness and see if we could start over.

"We're the only sisters each of us will ever have."
