Lorraine Kelly's national treasure status seems to be paying off as she kicked back in true luxury.

The telly legend, 60, had her "most relaxing hour" as she lay back in a spa and was treated with sheets of pure gold.

Lorraine shared a snap from the spa where the gold had been laid across her face for a facial.

She'd headed to the spa of Pietro Simone for the specialist treatment, writing: "Had THE best facial from @pietrosimoneofficial - using pure gold!

"Most relaxing hour I've had in months. Skin feeling incredible Thank you Pierto #facial #beauty #happy."

Pietro replied: "I had the best time performing this facial for you! Can't wait to do more."

"You deserve to relax and be pampered," one enamoured fan gushed.

Another commented: "Wow, how divine is this !! Lucky you .. you deserve it!!"

A third remarked: "Well done you for treating yourself - sometimes you just need to and it does our wee hearts good."

"Always said you were solid gold," a fourth cheekily joked.

Lorraine has been a telly mainstay during the Covid pandemic, keeping the nation entertained but taking a well-earned break from our screens over the summer.

And amid a fresh spike of coronavirus cases, she's once again been forced to ban live guests in the studio just days after ban was lifted.

"This week things are a bit different, we actually started off the week very excited that we were allowed guests in the studio," Lorraine told fans.

"And we had gorgeous Felicity Kendall here, but everything has changed now so it's going to be back to talking to people in their houses, in their kitchens, and we can have a wee look in their houses which is actually quite good."

She's also been supporting pal and ITV colleague Kate Garraway during her husband Derek Draper's health battle.

Derek was hospitalised in March with Covid and remains there now, but has emerged from his coma into "a state of minimum consciousness".

Lorraine waded into the debate around anti-lockdown protesters, citing the "hell" that Kate has been through.

Responding to a mass protest that gathered in London's Trafalgar Square, Lorraine raged: "I was fuming at the weekend! The protests!

"I absolutely would love to take these people by the hand and show them the reality.
