Little Mix are rumoured to make a savage dig at their former boss Simon Cowell on their scathing new song.

Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall are due to release their new record ‘Confetti’ on Friday, which includes a track called Not A Pop Song.

Ianticipation of the band's upcoming album release, the band have been dropping some hints as to the content of the feisty tune which fans think targets Simon and his record label Syco.

Jade appeared to dish the dirt on the new tune during a Q&A with fans ahead of the release.

The star told fans: “Concept wise there’s a song on the album that I’m really excited for everyone to hear because it’s kind of something we’ve sung about before but we go a little more in depth and it’s more about our journey as pop stars and in the industry and how people deem girl bands as a ‘guilty pleasure.’”

She smiled: “I’m looking forward to people hearing that one.”

An insider has told Metro.co.uk that the song contains a “tongue-in-cheek” dig at Simon.

The tune’s lyrics are reported to read: “I don’t do what Simon says. Get the message cuz it’s read. That’s just life it never plays fair.

“Said to follow any dream, be a puppet on a string. Works for you but that isn’t me. This ain’t another pop song.”

The internationally acclaimed girl band signed to Simon’s label Syco after they won The X Factor in 2011.

They abruptly walked away from him in 2018 and have since signed with rival RCA.

The source told the publication the girls think Simon “will see the funny side of it – as they know he loves attention and will think it’s all playful”.

Since the rumours of the attack on Simon stated brewing, fans have taken to social media to hail the band as heroes for “sticking it to the man”.

“‘Not a pop song" is a dis towards simon for enforcing their sound to be generic bubblegum pop (simon says), THIS IS ALL COMING TOGETHER,” one wrote on Twitter.

“It’s called Not A Pop Song because they have the freedom to make whatever music they want now, not just the pop mix S*co wanted them to do,” another speculated.

Adding fuel to the already raging rumour fire, another fan pointed out that the song’s lyrics and meaning have emerged on Simon’s 61st birthday.
