Little Mix stars have reached the nine-year milestone.

It may not all have been possible as Jesy Nelson was so close to walking away from stardom and fame.

Jealous and trolling threatened to tear Little Mix apart but the band survived the odds in the music spheres.

Snowballing on social media was the hash tag #9YearsOfLittleMix on Wednesday as fans wish the band a happy anniversary.

Leigh-Anne Pinnock took to Instagram to congratulate her girlfriends - Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Jesy - on their grand achievements.

The pop diva acknowledged the "tough times" and the "tears" as well as the "sisterhood, friendship and the most amount of fun".

Her words were shared with a throwback picture to when the band mates celebrated at eight years with a cake, Barbie dolls and prosecco.

She wrote: "Happy Birthday to US!!!

" @littlemix 9 years of laughs, tears, incredible times, tough times, achievements, sisterhood, friendship and the most amount of fun you'll ever imagine!

" @perrieedwards@jadethirlwall@jesynelson we've been through so much but we've always stuck together and when it's all said and done we are sisters for life."

Little Mix have gone from strength to strength as a band since they formed on The X Factor in 2011.

Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne had Jesy's back when she went through harrowing death threats and abuse after their rise to fame on The X Factor.

Jesy confessed she nearly walked away from it all because it was so hard dealing with the cruel torments.

But she's still with the band today.

She said on her award-winning documentary Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out: "Yeah [I nearly left the band]. For them [Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jade], it was hard as well. They're living their dream.

"To have someone constantly down and depressed all the time, you don't want that when you're living your best life. It was hard to be happy and console me at times."
