Lily James made poorly-timed comments about women having affairs in footage filmed prior to snaps of her kissing married man Dominic West emerged.

At the start of the week, Dominic West, 50, and wife Catherine FitzGerald's marriage was thrust into the limelight after the actor was pictured kissing and cuddling fellow screen star Lily, 31, during a trip to Italy.

After the snaps came to light, Dominic flew home for crisis talks with Irish aristocrat wife Catherine, and the couple have put on a defiant display and stated they have not split.

And during a recent video interview, filmed for Harper's Bazaar as part of Lily promoting her new Netflix film Rebecca, the young beauty openly spoke on infidelity and admitted that she has made mistakes.

The stylish star can be seen wearing a white blazer in the clip - titled Full Disclosure- as she sits on a baroque chair which was placed in front of patterned wall paper.

Speaking about her teenage years and continuing to go against the norm as an adult, she said in the video: "I feel I've rebelled in that way, I was always a rebellious teenager and I think it's important to rebel in that way. I think criticism can be good if it's constructive but I feel like if it's attacking you or a vendetta that's really difficult but I'm still learning....

"I'm still figuring it out but I do think I can grow and develop a thicker skin. All that matters is those who love you."

Elsewhere in the interview Lily spoke about her character of Rebecca in the new film based on the 1938 novel by Daphne du Maurier.

Lily said: "The character against Rebecca, she went against all norms as a woman, disobeyed her husband and had affairs was basically just brilliant and that was only in the 30s and people are afraid of women when they're unleashed and women are warriors and that's intimidating."

And opening up on not being perfect, she added: "I think I make mistakes all the time and I feel that's what life's about and I would never want to run away from a situation or be too scared to act...

"I think it's better to throw yourself in and if your instincts are right even if they're misguided or if you're open you can recover from your mistakes and learn from them."

Over the weekend, The Affair star Dominic, was seen on what appeared to be a romantic break with Mamma Mia star Lily, 31, who recently split "for good" from Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

Dominic and Lily were pictured having an intimate lunch together in Rome.

Dominic was caught on camera stroking Lily's hair and nuzzling and kissing her neck.

They were also seen messing around on a scooter as he wrapped his arms around Lily and they hopped on the vehicle together.

Dominic and wife Catherine appear to being working through Dominic's slip-up.

The couple, who have been married since 2010 and have four children together, put on a defiant display as they stood outside their home as they held hands and kissed and offered a statement to the press.
