They were said to have ended their romance in December 2019 before reconnecting in the spring this year.

But now Lily James, 31, and Matt Smith, 37, have decided to split for good due to "differences they haven’t been able to get past" leading to Lily wanting to find love with a "normal guy who’s not in the spotlight."

An insider told The Sun: “Lily and Matt were a picture-perfect couple for years but there are just some differences they haven’t been able to get past.

“They have gone back and forth this year trying to sort things out between them because they both have so much love for each other.

“But unfortunately it just isn’t working and they have mutually decided to just close this chapter of their lives.

They added that the pair of English actors - who first struck up a relationship in 2014 - ended their partnership amicably with Lily telling pals "it’s over for good."

“Now Lily just wants to find a normal guy who’s not in the spotlight because she found it quite tough being with another celebrity,” the source continued.

Mirror Online have contacted representative for Lily and Matt for comment.

Last month, Matt sparked rumours that he was dating Emilia Clarke.

Speculation began after the pair were spotted out dining together and enjoying an evening stroll in London’s Soho neighbourhood.

The Mail on Sunday claims the pair had enjoyed dinner at swanky Russian restaurant Bob Bob Ricard, near Carnaby Street and Golden Square.

And the duo were then spied walking past the restaurant while looking in high spirits whilst in each others company.
