Lily Allen has jokingly shared plans to get 'implants' and join adult subscription service Only Fans in a dig at Conservative Chancellor Rishi Sunak's advice to out of work artists today.

Like many of her peers, Lily has been unable to head out on tour or perform at festivals this year given the social distancing restrictions the coronavirus pandemic has provoked.

The lack of support in the entertainment industry has left many artists feeling neglected by the government and Chancellor Sunak quizzed today on how he plans to help the unemployed through winter.

Sunak's appearance on ITV news was met with widespread criticism as he suggested that musicians and others in the arts should retrain and find other jobs.

Giving her response to his suggestion on Instagram, Lily shared a clip of the interview and joked she would be joining the likes of Kerry Katona and Lauren Goodger who make money a raunchy pay per view website.

"*gets several implants and starts OnlyFans*," teased Lily, who got married last month.

Her unimpressed attitude to the government's advice was echoed by the likes of other UK entertainers including Liam Gallagher and Sue Perkins.

Giving his very sweary response, Liam said it was the government that needed to retrain, calling the politicians a shower of 'c***s' in a string of furious tweets.

Liam penned: "So the dopes in gov telling musicians and people in arts to retrain and get another job what and become massive c**** like you nah yer alright c'mon you know LG x

"This country would be beyond w*** if it wasn't for the arts and the music and football show a bit of respect you little TURD cmon you know LG x.

"If anyone needs to retrain it's them shower of C**** c'mon you know LG x.'

Earlier in the day, Rishi Sunak was asked on how he planned to support jobs in the arts through winter.

"If you're a professional musician, what is your message right now? If they can't earn enough money to live, is your message for them, you're going to have to get another job?" an ITV reporter asked him.

To which the chancellor responded: "'It's a very sad time, three quarters of a million people have already lost their jobs, we know that and that is likely to increase and many more people will.

"I can't pretend that everyone can do exactly the same job they were doing at the beginning of this crisis and that's why we've put a lot of our extra resource into trying to create new opportunities for people, so our kickstart scheme for example for young people who are most at risk of becoming unemployed, all the way up to the age of 24 ,are going to benefit from a fully funded job placement'"

ITV shared a clip of the interview on Twitter with the headline: "Rishi Sunak suggests musicians and others in the arts should retrain and find other jobs."

This was later deleted after Rishi denied he had been talking specifically about the arts in the interview.

However, his comments were enough to spark a backlash on social media.

Former Bake Off host Sue tweeted: "That’s it. I’m retraining as Chancellor of the Exchequer."
