As the daughter of one of Hollywood's most successful lawyers, Kim Kardashian didn't grow up short of cash.

But after somehow turning a gig as Paris Hilton's wardrobe organiser into a multi-million pound global empire, Kim has proved she's more than just a rich kid of LA.

Since becoming a name in her own right back in 2007 after that sex tape and the launch of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim - who turns 40 today - has amassed an eye-watering level of wealth.

With a keen eye for cashing in on any opportunity, the mother-of-four has left no stone unturned in making her millions and now has an estimated net worth of £695million - that's almost twice as much as the Queen.

And here's how she did it...

Cosmetics

Her little sister Kylie Jenner is often touted as the queen of cosmetics thanks to her lip kit, but Kim has also made a pretty penny from her company, KKW Beauty.

She recently sold a 20 percent stake in it to cosmetics giant Coty in a deal worth £154million, valuing the company at £772,000.

And according to Fobes magazine, the move has left Kim teetering on becoming a billionaire.

Clothing lines

Kim and her sisters got their start selling fashionwear in their DASH boutiques and soon branched out with lines for Sears and the Kardashian Kollection - which raked in £463million in 2013 according to Forbes.

She teamed up with Nordstrom to sell her underwear line Skims - which includes a range a support wear for pregnant women.

And that reportedly made £1.54million within minutes of its launch.

Kimojis

For the bargain price of £1.49, fans could download a package of more than 250 Kim-inspired icons, including her famous bum, her side-boob and her 'belfie'.

The app crashed Apple's App store and at one point 9,000 people were downloading it, earning Kim around £700,000 a minute!

Sex tape

When Kim and then boyfriend Ray J took a camcorder on holiday to Cabo, Mexico, for Kim's 23rd birthday in October 2002, little did they know what a big deal it would prove to be.

Five years later the steamy footage found itself in the hands of porn company Vivid Entertainment, which released the 41-minute movie as Kim Kardashian, Superstar.

But despite claims that Kim and her mum Kris Jenner were behind its release, Kim actually sued to prevent it being made public before settling with Vivid for an undisclosed sum.

Steven Hirsch, the founder and co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment, told the New York Post: “Ultimately she did sell us the footage so we had the ability to put it out and distribute it.”

According to reports, she was paid £3.8million. Hirsch said: “I don’t comment on that other than to say we haven’t disputed it,” but her lawyer claimed the figure was 'greatly inflated'.

Hirsch added: “I can only say that it’s the most popular tape we’ve ever done.

“Revenue-wise it has generated more income than any other tape that we’ve done.”

Kim and Ray J are believed to receive annual royalties although the amount has not been disclosed.

KUWTK

Matriarch Kris Jenner previously revealed that the family split the cash from their reality show equally, telling Ellen DeGeneres: “Everybody gets paid pretty much equally, because we all film a lot and we all work hard, and we’ve created this show and this brand for the last decade… Everybody’s happy.”

When they last signed a contract with E! in 2017, the three-year deal is thought to have been worth £77million.

Each family member is thought to take home £717,000 an episode, with Kim pocketing more because she's an executive producer.

Although Kim recently revealed she can earn more for a single social media post than for an entire series of KUWTK.

"We would not be who we are today without Keeping Up With The Kardashians and that's why we continue to share our lives," she told David Letterman.

"Even if, realistically, we can post something on social media and make more than we do a whole season."

Instagram

With 190million followers, Kim can command a fortune for social media posts and in 2018 revealed she once got paid £770,000 for a single sponsored update.
