Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are said to be deeply concerned by what impact Kanye West ’s presidential bid could have on their business empire.
Last month, 39-year-old Kim made headlines when Forbes magazine suggested she had reached billionaire status after selling part of her make-up company to cosmetics giant Coty – although experts later disputed if she had crossed the wealth threshold.
While 64-year-old mother and manager Kris has seen herself embroiled in headlines in recent months after her youngest daughter Kylie Jenner, 22, was unceremoniously stripped of her own billionaire status amid troubling claims the reality stars could have lied about their wealth – or their taxes – in order for the Kylie Cosmetics mastermind to be considered a billionaire in the first place.
The Kardashian family are said to have been taken by surprise earlier this month when Kim’s husband Kanye made the shock announcement he is running for office in the upcoming 2020 Presidential Election.
The 43-year-old rap star has since made a number of troubling comments and twitter statements in the weeks following his political announcement which have rocked the fame-hungry family.
Kanye declared he had been trying to divorce Kim for two years – and branded Kris a “white supremacist” and compared her to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
Now sources have suggested the family are concerned Kanye’s presidential bid and erratic behaviour – believed to have been caused by a bipolar episode – could damage their lucrative brand name.
A source close to the Kardashians told The Sun on Sunday: “[Kris is] fuming that he’s gone ahead with the presidential bid on his own.
“They had a huge row ahead of him fleeing his wife and family.
“The family are concerned that their business and brand endorsement could come tumbling down.”
Mirror Online have contacted representatives for Kim and Kris for comment.
In a since deleted Twitter outburst earlier this week, Kanye declared he had been trying to divorce Kim for two years.
The pair have been married since 2014 and have four children together.
The couple are believed to have a fortune of £2.7 billion between them.
Reports ahead of their 2014 nuptials suggested the pair had signed a prenup which would entitle Kim to receive $1 million (£780,000) for every year they remain together, up to 10 years, ownership of their Bel Air home, the retention of all gifts and jewellery given to the reality star by the rapper.
While a clause was also said to have Kim named as the beneficiary of a $20 million (£15.6 million) payout under Kanye’s life insurance policy.
However, reports last year suggested Kim's wealth may have overtaken Kanye's in the years since they swapped vows – potentially rendering the pre-nup worthless.
On Saturday, Kanye took to Twitter to offer a public apology to his wife after his recent outbursts – which had also include a claim that he and Kim had considered aborting their first child, seven-year-old North.
Kanye tweeted: “I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter.
