Khloe Kardashian lifts lid on secret health battle that has plagued her since childhood
"I would not be able to lift my head up, and it was scary," the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star revealed
Khloe Kardashain might be a global star who's aired her dirty laundry on an E! reality series for the last 13 years, but even her most die-hard fans might not know about the health battle that has plagued her since childhood.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians starlet suffers from debilitating migraines that have left her unable to move her head and see during her most terrifying episodes.
Opening up to prevention.com, Khloe said her problems began when she was just 12-years-old but she felt too embarrassed to speak up to her family members.
"I vividly remember how I felt, but mainly I remember how everyone told me that I wasn't feeling what I felt. People would always say, 'Oh, it's just a headache.'" said Khloe.
"That's the stigma with migraines, that it's just a headache. And being 12 years old, and at that time no one in my family experienced migraines, I was embarrassed to say when I was suffering from one."
Khloe, now 36, said she spent her teens suffering in silence with her migraines even if they left her 'incapacitated in bed.'
"I would not be able to lift my head up, and being that young, it was scary," she said.
When she was 16 Khloe sought the help of a friend of her mum Kris Jenner, who was also suffering with the condition.
Khloe was then sent to a neurologist and underwent a brain scary. After ruling out a number of 'scary' outcomes, Khloe was found to be suffering with migraines.
There is no cure for the condition only treatment and Khloe says she still has episodes where she is extremely sensitive to light and scent.
She said her migraines can cause vision impairment, nausea and uncontrollable shaking.
Khloe also revealed how her symptoms were highlighted by the coronavirus pandemic as she stopped working out to de-stress.
