Katy Perry has shared what she believes is her new meaning to 'getting pumped' in a video urging US citizens to vote in the upcoming presidential election.
In the tongue-in-cheek 90-second long video that has legendary fitness guru Jane Fonda saying Americans should "exercise their right to vote", Katy adds her own twist to the subject.
The 35-year-old singer has recently welcomed her first daughter, Daisy, with fiancé Orlando Bloom but has admitted that she is not on the same page as him when it comes to a certain subject.
Katy says that while Orlando feels 'getting pumped' is to do with sport, she says that nowadays she associates it with the breast pump she uses to extract milk for her baby.
To this end, Katy was seen pumping breast milk on the video that she shared on Instagram, in a bid to up the number of voters in the election.
Captioning the video, Katy wrote: "GET PUMPED TO VOTE!!! Okay so @orlandobloom and I have different views on what it means to get pumped these days but whoever said pumping isn’t a sport... I’d like to twist their nipples clockwise for one week straight."
Katy then went on to share the serious side to her message.
She continued: "ANYWAY I am going to exercise my right to vote!!!! Especially if @JaneFonda says I should.
"We’re getting in shape for the race of our lives this November and it has never been more important to #ExerciseThatVote"
Katy recently returned to work and said there were a few things that needed to be set straight about motherhood and working a job.
She did so in a series of tweets, which began with her writing: "Popular misconception: being a mom isn’t a full time job."
Katy then added three more tweets to the list as she spelled out what she things is perceived wrongly about being a mother.
She continued: “part 2: when a mom finally goes back to work (whatever profession they do) it’s not like they been coming from months of ‘time off…’ she’s coming from a full time job… of being a mom, lol."
Next she urged her fans to give some love to their own mothers for what they have done to help raise them.
Katy's next tweet was: "Part 3: call your mom and tell her you love and appreciate her and advocate for paid family leave!"
She concluded the series of tweets by writing: "Part 4. I love my job."
