Katie Price has proved that she's determined to travel in style after treating herself to a hefty £10,000 bejewelled wheelchair.

The former glamour model, 42, faced disaster last month when she broke both of her ankles during a family getaway in Turkey.

The mum-of-five has been warned by doctors that she will not be able to walk for three to six months, so to soften the blow, she has invested in a Barbie pink personalised wheelchair.

After undergoing an 'agonising' surgery on both her ankles last week, Katie decided to treat herself to the crystal-studded wheelchair, which is laden with 6,000 Swarovski gems.

The intense six-hour operation means that the reality TV star needs to keep all her weight off her shattered feet, and will be wheelchair- and crutch- bound for the next couple of months.

Katie's latest elaborate purchase has been accessorised by the BiGDUG Company.

Polly Maclennan from BiGDUG told Mirror Online: "We absolutely love being able to help people, and Katie has been through something really traumatic.

Katie's custom-made wheelchair took over 70 hours to perfect, with the creators applying the 6,000 crystals one at a time by hand.

"It took 70 hours labour to make and has 6,000 crystals applied by hand - it's easily worth £10,000," another source told the Sun.

The former I'm A Celeb star's initials are embroidered on the back of the chair in glittering diamond studs, and it also boasts a huge 'K' sewn into the main panel on her hot pink seat.

It doesn't stop there, as the wheels on Katie's brand new mode of transport are also scattered with hand-applied gems that shimmer on the rims.

Meanwhile, in signature Katie style, all the metal work on the wheelchair has been painted an eye-popping neon pink colour.

Katie's horrific injuries have left her in so much pain that she can't even eat, causing her to drop a lot of weight in a short space of time.

The reality TV icon is believed to have dropped over half a stone since going under the knife last week.

A source told The Sun : "Katie's on all these pain medications but she just can't sleep she's in so much pain.

"She's gone off her food, which is unlike her, and has lost half a stone since the operation."

Doctors have warned that it may take up to two years for her to make a full recovery.
