Kate Garraway has shared that Halloween is "tough" without husband Derek Draper.

The Good Morning Britain host, 53, is going through a hard time as her beloved husband Derek, also 53, continues to recover from Covid-19 and has been in hospital for 214 days.

And on Saturday night, the ITV favourite admitted that the spooky holiday reminded her of his absence from their marital home.

In a video shared on her Instagram page she showed off how she had transformed her home for the ghoulish day and opened up on how she felt.

She wrote next to the video clip: "Tough day as Derek loves #halloween - but the kids have encouraged me to get some of his favourite spooky kit out to celebrate him and feel better for it . Happy #halloween everyone."

The footage showed her home decorated in an assortment of Halloween party pieces - including pumpkins, a witch figurine and glowing skulls.

As she filmed the clip, fans caught a glimpse of the TV star in a mirror and she could be seen dressed in a orange and black ensemble.

It comes after Kate revealed that Derek uttered his first word in 214 days.

She told how the breakthrough left her feeling as though she's hanging on a cliff-edge screaming 'don't let go' as she wills her partner not to take a step back in his recovery after a brief flash of hope.

Derek is now the longest person in the UK to remain in hospital after contracting coronavirus.

The father-of-two caught COVID-19 back in March and almost died from the side effects which caused his organs to shut down before he was placed in a medically induced coma.

Kate told The Sun after seven months of silence, hearing her husband speak for the first time was 'amazing but heartbreak.'

After listening to the incredible moment on video call Kate said she now fears he will "disappear" again.

Revealing her response, Kate said: "I feel like I'm on a cliff edge holding on to him, saying, ‘Don’t let go, don’t let go — I’m going to get you out of this."

She added: "We miss Derek every single day, but now I definitely feel like he looks at me, and he knows me.

"I have to believe that, it's what keeps me going. “I say to him all the time, ‘I know you’re in there, Derek . . . and I'm going to get you out’.

The former political lobbyist is said to have lost eight stone through his illness over the last seven months.
