Kate Garraway looks festive in heart jumper as she talks about 'horrendous' 2020

Even by 2020 standards, Kate Garraway has had an awful year.

But the Good Morning Britain presenter, 53, put on a brave face in a festive heart jumper as she arrived at Global Radio studios to host her Smooth Radio show in London on Tuesday.

She kept the winter chill off by teaming a metallic skirt with the cream fluffy jumper emblazoned with red sequin hearts.

The telly personality wore her locks in lose waves as they flowed in the chilly December breeze and kept herself safe with a black face mask amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Busy Kate’s hands were full as she was seen carrying a shoe box and paper carrier bag and her grey tote bag into the studios.

The presenter had shared her family's heartbreak over the last few months after her husband Derek Draper, 53, was placed in an induced coma due to his battle with Covid-19.

It has been an understandably difficult experience for Kate, and her children Darcey and Bill.

Now, she is set to join close friend and colleague Ben Shephard are set to honour those who gave time to others in 2020 with GMB's 1 Million Minutes Awards.

Kate explained: "It has been so incredible to see people give their valuable free time to help others in need, especially during what has been a horrendous and difficult year.

"We have seen more loneliness and isolation than ever before.

"It’s been a real mixture of seeing wonderful communities and people helping each other in amazing ways coupled with that loneliness at the core of it."

The Good Morning Britain star added: "Never before have we needed the goodwill of the British people to get us through 2020.
