Rapper Kanye West is reportedly targeting the swing state of Ohio in the 2020 US presidential election.
The hip-hop titan, 43, announced on Twitter last month that he was running to be the President of the United States of America.
Following this, Kanye made a series of controversial remarks including some erratic remarks about his relationship with wife Kim Kardashian and her family.
However, despite reports that Kanye was considering dropping out of the race and denied rumours that Kim had given her husband an ultimatum to get help for his diagnosed bipolar disorder or she would leave him, it appears Kanye is going ahead with his political ambitions.
According to a report from TMZ, Kanye has hired a company named Let the Voters Decide to amass voters in Ohio,Arkansas, and West Virginia.
Ohio is most significant as it is one of the key 'swing states' in the United States and Kanye is said to need more than 5,000 signatures to be eligible to run there.
Let the Voters Decide are said by the publication to be confident that the number can be amassed.
A 'swing state' is a state that could reasonably won by either the Republican or Democrat party, unlike 'safe states' which are considered firm in their support of either party.
Therefore 'swings states' often become the focus of media campaigns in the elections and receive the most attention from the political parties before election day.
President Donald Trump narrowly won in Ohio by 5,000 votes in the previous election in 2016.
It is considered unlikely that Kanye will win in Ohio but he could be a 'spoiler vote' for either Trump or his Democrat rival, former Vice President Joe Biden.
Ohio also boasts 16 electoral votes in the Electoral College system, which ranks 7th in having the most in the country.
Mirror Online has reached out to representatives of Kanye West for comment on the report.
At the end of July, Kanye returned to Twitter following increasing concerns about his mental health and personal life amid his campaigning.
In his tweets he referred to the emotional moment in his campaign rally speech when he discussed considering aborting Kim's first pregnancy which resulted in the birth of his daughter North, who is now seven.
Kanye tweeted: "I cried at the thought of aborting my first born and everyone was so concerned about me...I'm concerned for the world that feels you shouldn't cry about this subject."
He then later added: "There is a tactic of 4 D's[...]Distract/Discredit/Dismiss/To Destroy/alright[...]Take a second and think about what is being projected here."
