Johnny Depp 's multi-million dollar endorsement deals are now in jeopardy after he lost his libel battle against News Group Newspapers.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star - who denied ever being violent towards his wife Amber Heard - went to court over an article published in The Sun which branded him a "wife-beater".

But the actor this morning lost his libel case after a long trial at London's High Court over the summer.

The aftermath now could mean his lucrative endorsement deals may soon be turning away from him.

The actor's $5million Dior deal to be the face of their cologne Sauvage now lies in the hands of the luxury brand.

He signed the endorsement deal back in 2015, and the cologne has since become a huge hit among consumers, not to mention it has helped boost his popularity by a substantial amount.

The name of the perfume, which has been part of the company's fragrance line since 1960, also came under scrutiny for its translation in recent years.

It has a variety of meanings, including wild, unspoiled and savage.

The actor's unsuccessful libel case result may also affect his daughter Lily Rose Depp's lucrative deal with Chanel.

Mirror Online has contacted Dior, Johnny and Lily Rose's reps for comment.

The trial took place over 16 days in July and featured testimony from Depp himself as well as his ex-wife Heard.

The case rested on 14 alleged incidents of domestic abuse which lawyers for NGN argued demonstrated the article by The Sun was not libellous.

The claims included details of alleged bust-ups between the pair which were said to have occurred between 2013 and 2016.

Depp repeatedly denied ever being violent towards Heard during their relationship and marriage, which lasted from 2015 until 2017.

In court, he claimed it was actually Heard who was the aggressor in the relationship and alleged she had actually been violent towards him.

Depp spent around 20 hours in the witness box over five days and was quizzed over his Hollywood lifestyle, booze and drugs, allegations of violence and his celebrity friendships.

The former couple began dating after meeting on the set of their movie The Rum Diary following the breakdown of his longtime relationship with French star Vanessa Paradis

They married in 2015 but split less than a year later.
