The lawyers of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp have accused his former wife, Amber Heard, of having two extra-marital affairs with Tesla owner Elon Muska and actor James Franco while she was still with him.
In a string of texts to his agent, Depp went on to label Heard a "50-cent stripper" and accused her of having an affair with "Mollusk," set to be a nickname for Musk.
The texts were read out during a libel hearing in London's High Court on Friday. Depp is suing News Group Newspapers, the publishers of the British tabloid The Sun, which published a 2018 article branding the actor a ''wife beater.''
The article was about the casting of Depp in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film franchise. According to Depp's lawyers, the piece made ''defamatory allegations of the utmost seriousness,'' by accusing him of committing physical assaults on his wife.
However, the tabloid claimed the article was accurate and sought to prove so at the High Court. According to The Sun, in May 2016, after almost a month apart from Heard, Depp returned to their home to pick up some personal belongings.
The couple last met a month ago, when Amber Heard was believed to heavily criticized her husband for arriving late for her 30th birthday party. Depp admitted he was late but claimed he was detained at a business meeting where he got some bad news about his finances.
The legal team of The Sun suggested that at one point that night, Depp picked up a bottle of champagne and threw it at her, but it missed. Depp declined the accusations.
The situation escalated the morning after when the actor received pictures showing excrement in their bed. Heard insisted it was from one of their pets that had issues with its toilet habits. According to Depp, it was a human waste left by a Heard's friend.
Heard told the court that when her ex-husband returned home in May, he was ''drunk'' and ''high'' and threw a mobile phone at her as if it was a baseball. He reportedly hit her in the eye. Depp declined all the allegations in domestic and sexual violence.
His lawyers claimed that the evidence of Heard's multiple affairs had to be brought up in court because it would prove ''false motive'' for the alleged abuse Heard said she suffered during her marriage with the Hollywood star.
Depp's legal team also referred to a CCTV footage taken at the elevator of the former couple's family home in Los Angeles, which supposedly shows Heard with a man believed to be Franco. The lawyers also asked for the disclosure of all communications between Heard, Franco, and Musk in 2016.
What do you think? Do you believe that Johnny Depp will win the case?
