John Travolta has posted on social media to share a touching clip after his wife Kelly Preston died.

The American movie star's partner passed away on July 12 at the age of 57, after a secret battle with breast cancer.

And six weeks after the sad tragedy John, 66, has taken to Instagram to share a touching clip of himself dancing with his and Kelly's daughter Ella.

The Grease actor and 20-year-old could be seen moving to classical music in an empty bar in the heartwarming footage.

As they swayed to the music they could be seen linking hands and smiling.

John captioned the clip: "My daughter @ella.travolta and I dancing in memory of momma. One of Kelly’s favourite things, dancing with me."

After Kelly died, John took to the photo-sharing site to share a message about the loss of his wife and to announce that he was taking time out to focus on their two kids - Ella and 9-year-old Benjamin.

The couple also had a son named Jett who died aged 16 in January 2009.

The Hairspray actor wrote: "It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer.

"She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.

"My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centres that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered.

"I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT."

Kelly's death certificate was recently obtained by US Weekly and confirms she passed away at the family's mansion in Clearwater, Florida on July 12.

She was later remembered at a private funeral and cremated at the Brooksville Crematory in Brooksville, Florida.

Kelly's younger half-brother Chris Palzis, 51, previously confirmed the family were by her side when she passed away.
