John Mayer and Jessica Simpson had a sex-obsessed nine-month love affair.
Famously the musician, 42, labelled the singer, 40, "sexual napalm" in a tell-all interview about their relationship.
It struck a nerve and Jessica later confessed the spark had begun to fizzle out when John left her red-faced over the X-rated chat about their love life.
At the time, John didn't see it that way when he gushed over his sexually-charged romance with Jessica.
The rock star admitted he was sexually addicted to his then-girlfriend by likening her sexual allure to "crack cocaine".
He told Playboy in 2010: "It wasn’t as direct as me saying, “I now make the choice to bring the paparazzi into my life.” I really said, “I now make the choice to sleep with Jessica Simpson.”
"That was stronger than my desire to stay out of the paparazzi’s eye. That girl, for me, is a drug. And drugs aren’t good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me.
"Sexually it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm."
Jessica and John first crossed paths at a Grammy party in February 2005.
Soon after she split from her husband Nick Lachey, John made his first move.
Their love was turbulent - on/off for a year from August 2006 but it all come crashing down once and for all over email.
Jessica admitted by the time it was over it was easy to walk away.
She set the record straight about their relationship in her memoir Open Book which hit shelves in February.
However, the actress acknowledged John had later apologised for his explicit comments about her in bed.
Jessica said John thought it was what she wanted to hear but in reality his remarks left her floored.
She said: "He thought that was what I wanted to be called... I was floored and embarrassed that my grandmother was actually gonna read that.
"A woman and how they are in bed, is not something that is ever talked about. It was shocking...
