Joe Swash has taken to the ice rink again for the first time since being crowned champion of Dancing On Ice earlier this year.

The Celebrity Gogglebox star, 38, walked away with the highly sought-after trophy back in March alongside his partner Alex Murphy.

Six months after his impressive win, Joe put back on his skates on Wednesday when he paid a visit to his local Lee Valley ice rink.

Taking to Instagram to share the special moment with his 1.6 million followers, the former EastEnders star beamed as he snapped a selfie outside of the establishment.

Wearing a protective face mask to keep in line with coronavirus guidelines, Joe revealed that he had really missed being on the ice - which came as a massive surprise to him.

Alongside the sweet snap, the proud dad-of-two penned: "Today is the first day I will be going back on the ice since the final.

"I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’ve missed it so much."

He also filmed himself as he nervously took to the ice to attempt a backwards twirl.

Taking to his Instagram Story Joe admitted: "Not going to lie to you, but I’m a little bit nervous. Let’s see how much of this I can remember."

Joe was soon inundated with messages from friends and followers who praised him for his return to the ice.

His former professional skating sidekick Alex Murphy expressed her longing to be back on the ice with her champion pal.

The gorgeous dancer commented: "I’m so so jealous. I’m going to my rink in Boston now. I wish I was with you!!!"

Fellow Dancing On Ice pro-skater Mark Hanretty also shared encouraging words with Joe when he penned: "That’s fantastic! Respect!"

Dancing duo Joe and Alex beat Diversity star Perri Kiely and Vanessa Bauer in a public vote that host Phillip Schofield described as being 'very close'.

While the 2021 series of Dancing On Ice is months away, speculation is already rife over which celebs will strut their stuff on the famous rink.

Denise Van Outen and Joe's girlfriend Stacey Solomon are both front runners for the line-up, while former TOWIE star James Argent is also reportedly in advanced talks.

Katie Price could also still be in with a chance of appearing on the hit reality contest despite breaking both of her feet during a freak accident in Turkey.

A source told recently told The Sun : "It’s Katie’s biggest goal to recover in time for Dancing On Ice next year.

"She’s been in talks with ITV and bosses say she stands a good chance of getting on the show if she’s recovered by then."
