Jessica Alba wasn’t ‘allowed to make eye contact’ with Beverly Hills, 90210 cast

Jessica Alba appeared in Season 8 of the hit series as Leanne - a pregnant teenager who walked into a clinic where Kelly Taylor was working

Jessica Alba has shockingly claimed that she was never allowed to make eye contact with the other cast members of Beverly Hills, 90210.

The Hollywood actress, 39, revealed that there was a strict ‘no eye-contact' rule while she was on set of the iconic nineties drama series.

Speaking on an episode of Hot Ones, the brunette beauty revealed that the bizarre guideline made her job as an actress incredibly difficult.

The Sin City star explained: “I couldn’t even make eye contact with any of the cast members.

“This was really strange when you’re like trying to do a scene with them.

“It was like, ‘You’re not allowed to make eye contact with any one of the cast members or you’ll be thrown off the set'.”

Jessica appeared in Season 8 of the hit series as Leanne - a pregnant teenager who walked into a clinic where Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) was working.

After bagging the highly sought-after role of Leanne, Jessica was able to get her foot in the door of the showbiz industry which eventually led her to major Hollywood movies including Honey and the Fantastic Four saga.

It’s not just Beverly Hills, 90210 which seems to have been affected by the bizarre no eye-contact rule though, as in recent months, stars have emerged claiming that they were forbidden to look their bosses and co-stars directly in the eyes.

They seem to be particularly common in Hollywood, as an Australian producer recently claimed that he wasn’t allowed to look at Ellen DeGeneres when she appeared on his own morning show.

Describing the rumoured rule as ‘insane’, Ellen hit back at the claims.

“It’s crazy, just not true, I don’t know how it started. That’s not who I am.

“I don’t know where it started. Please talk to me. Look me in the eye.”
