Jedward have opened up about their late mum's final moments in an interview that left their fans sobbing.
John and Edward Grimes, who found fame in 2009 on The X Factor, spoke of how they played mum Susanna's favourite music and held her hands as she slipped away last year, having lost her fight with cancer.
Speaking on The Late Late Show to host Ryan Tubridy, the 28-year-old twins revealed their grief at not having their mum around for their most important life events.
"Our mom, five years ago, found out she had leukaemia and kidey failure in the same day. It was all a bit too much. The thing about it was that mom kept living her life," said Edward.
"We were there when she passed and were able to hold her hand. We listened to Fleetwood Mac."
His brother John spoke about the pain of losing Susanna and empathised with grieving families who are unable to say their final goodbyes because of coronavirus restrictions.
"Right now my heart goes out to everyone who's not able to go to a funeral," he said.
"It's very disheartening to think she won't be at our weddings, won't meet our kids, but we always keep her spirit alive."
The twins then performed a moving rendition of REM's Everybody Hurts, which they dedicated to Susanna.
The emotional song had many viewers in tears, with one tweeting: "Jedward are the loveliest people. Thank you for talking about important issues. Their performance was so emotional I’m still crying."
Another wrote: "I’m literally crying John and Edward were so wonderful in the interview and that live cover dedicated to momma Jedward got me so emotional I felt it omg have so much love and respect for our angels."
And a third said: "Hi but why am I crying at Jedward’s interview on the Late Late? They are national treasures, I won't hear any opposing arguments."
It comes after the twins hit headlines for their furious reaction to people refusing to wear masks while out in public.
They clashed with The Corr's Jim Corr back in August when he sent tweets supporting a 6,000-strong crowd of protesters who marched on Dublin to complain about new compulsory face covering rules.
They raged: “Dear Dublin Anti Mask Protest! Get the f*** inside you selfish low lives sincerely the rest of the country."
“When your core message is wrong you have no legs to stand on! There’s only one Right in this fight against Covid so don’t even try to question it! Change your attitude and get with the times.”
Jim found himself targeted by the lads after he shared footage from the protest – sparking an amusing exchange of clashing opinions, peppered with references to The Corrs’ back catalogue of songs.
“G’wan leave the whole country ‘breathless’ from Covid because of your idiotic behaviour @Jimcorrsays,” they told him.
Jim hit back, tweeting: “Shut up you fools and grow a brain between you.”
