Jamie Laing takes 'Strictly curse' swipe and says he'd be ashamed to fall victim
Countless celebs have left their long-term partners and spouses for their Strictly Come Dancing professional - but Jamie Laing insists he won't be joining the list
Jamie Laing has insisted his relationship with Sophie Habboo is strong enough to survive the infamous Strictly Curse that has blighted so many couples on the series in the past.
The Made In Chelsea star said he would be 'ashamed' if he was to fall for his professional dancer partner and cheat on girlfriend Sophie.
Jamie, 31, is set to appear on the 18th series of the show after being forced to pull out at the eleventh hour last year due to injury.
Speaking ahead of his Saturday debut, Jamie was asked if his partner Sophie was worried about the possibility of him waltzing off with his dance partner.
"We don't speak too much about the curse," he told heat magazine. "I'm very lucky to be with my girlfriend, as she is better than I am in every single way - cooking, dancing, sport, talking, everything. She's pretty special.
"I don't worry about the curse, and if it were to happen, it would be a complete shame on me."
Viewers will have to wait until this weekend to find out just which of Strictly's glamorous female dancers Jamie has been partnered with.
Though Katya Jones is out of the running after it was revealed last week that she has been paired with boxer Nicola Adams, making them the first same-sex dance couple in Strictly history.
While Max George's girlfriend Stacey Giggs is rumoured to be hoping he lands a married professional dancer for his stint on the dance contest.
A source told The Sun that Stacey, 38, wants her beau to be paired with a married star with a 'good reputation.'
"Stacey made it crystal clear she wanted to know who Max would be partnered with from the start," they claimed.
“It became well known early on that she was incredibly nervous about who he would be paired with. Stacey said she wanted someone with a good reputation and said the curse had played on her mind."
It comes after numerous celebrities taking part in the show have wound up more than just dance partners with their professionals.
In recent years Katya Jones was spotted snogging Seann Walsh in the street while married to co-star Neil Jones.
Their marriage crumbled a year later.
While 2018 winner Stacey Dooley left her long-term partner for Kevin Clifton a month after they won the show.
After taking part in the show in 2016, Louise Redknapp said she was given a surge of confidence that gave her the strength to leave her 18 year marriage to former footballer Jame.
