James 'Arg' Argent has revealed that he is nine months sober and throwing himself into exercise.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star, 32, has been looking very happy as he appeared in new content on his Instagram account on Satuday.

In the image, a svelter Arg posed in a black t-shirt and jogging bottoms next to fitness trainer Charlotte Thorne, who donned a red Nike sports vest with black shorts.

He also posted a short clip of himself doing squats while holding a weight with Charlotte alongside him encouraging him.

In the caption for the post, Arg penned: "I’ve been Healing & taken time to continue working on myself.

"Im proud to say I’m nearly 9 months clean & sober."

He then added how he has been embracing a healthier lifestyle in a bid to focus on the future.

James continued: "Im really enjoying a healthy lifestyle & I’m not looking back.

"I started my fitness journey with @charlottethornefitness@gymologyuk

"Great workouts & I’m really enjoying pushing myself to the limit!"

Naturally, Arg's friends and former co-stars took to the comments section to show their support for his next steps on his journey.

Former TOWIE stars Megan McKenna and Danielle Armstrong posted emojis in praise, with Megan replying with a heart emoji, and Danielle showing a raised hands emoji and a face blowing a kiss.

Loose Women panelist Saira Khan commented: "Amazing effort Arg! Well Done".

Katie Price's ex-boyfriend and personal trainer Kris Boyson commented: "Well done son! Huge achievement. Keep showing the world how strong you are.

"Love seeing this sort of stuff!"

Elsewhere, Love Island 2018 winner Jack Fincham penned: "Good man that's what I want to see".

Arg has been very open about his battle with drug abuse in the past, including making a very open appearance on This Morning about his struggles.

He told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford earlier this year: "At the moment, I’m in early stages of recovery.

"I’ve lost a substantial amount of weight, which is great… a big part of me using was the eating disorder, so I’m eating three balanced meals a day.

"I went from 23 and a half stone to 18 and a half stone. I’m attending an outpatients at the moment. We’re doing Zoom meetings.

"I’m also regularly on phone calls with other addicts and people who can relate to me. I’m trying to give myself structure and routine… I’m lucky I've got the support system I've got."

He split from on-off girlfriend Gemma Collins earlier this year.
