Russell Howard may have been in the public eye for around 15 years, but he's kept his family life very private.

The comedian, 40, became a regular on our TV screens way back in 2006 when he signed up as a panelist on Mock The Week.

Since then, the stand-up has released a string of DVDs from his gigs and appeared on almost every panel show you can imagine.

He's also hosted a number of his own shows, including Russell Howard's Good News and The Russell Howard Hour, and even starred with his mum Ninette in Russell Howard & Mum: USA Road Trip.

Off stage and off screen, Russell keeps to himself.

He lives in the Camden area of London with his wife, Cerys, a doctor, and their pet Jack Russell dog Archie.

Russell confirmed on Alan Carr's Christmas Cracker on Christmas Day 2018 that he'd be getting married the following year, and they tied the knot in June 2019.

He hasn't spoken about Cerys much, but he recently opened up about how difficult it was for them to live separately during the coronavirus pandemic.

NHS geriatric doctor Cerys has been helping fight COVID-19 on the frontline.

Speaking about her on Sunday Brunch earlier this year, Russell said: "She’s a frontline doctor. She's got a couple of doctors living with her.

"It felt the most sensible thing to do. It's heartbreaking but it's for the greater good."

Russell and Cerys started dating in 2004.

They met when he was 21 and she was 17, and a friend of his sister Kerry.

Kerry is also in the public eye.

The actress, 38, is best known for her roles as Laura in BBC Three comedy Him & Her and as Leanne in Witless.

Kerry has also appeared on an episode of her brother's show Russell Howard's Good News, in Drunk History, and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

She also played Katy Perry in an episode of Murder in Successville.

Kerry's twin brother Daniel has perhaps been the biggest part of Russell's stand up.

Russell regularly shares funny tales about his little brother and has had him appear on his TV shows with him over the years.

Russell recently made headlines after he stormed off stage at a gig in his native Bristol just five minutes in.

The star was testing out new material at a Bristol pub ahead of his new tour when he became angry that an audience member sat in the front row was filming his entire set.

It's said Russell told the woman: "That's literally the worst thing you can do."

He told the woman to "live in the moment" and asked her how she would like it if someone started filming her at her place of work, before mimicking doing so by taking out his phone and aiming the camera at her.

A spokesperson for Russell said: "Any comedian whose set is being recorded at a new material night would find it distracting.
