Guerrilla Games Says Fixing Horizon Zero Dawn’s Issues On PC Is Their ‘Highest Priority’

Guerrilla Games‘ open-world blockbuster Horizon Zero Dawn, which launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive back in February of 2017, recently made its way to PC, and since its launch, players have reported several issues with the game.

Luckily, it didn’t take long for the developers to acknowledge and respond to the reported issues, as they offered a quick update on Steam.

“We have been monitoring all of our channels and are aware that some players have been experiencing crashes and other technical issues,” said Guerrilla Games over on Steam’s community page. “Please know that we are investigating your reports as our highest priority.

“We appreciate those who have already taken the time to report their issues on Steam, Reddit, or via our website. If you are still encountering crashes or bugs, please continue to use those spaces, or refer to our FAQ if you are unsure of how to proceed. Your reports are, and have already been, incredibly helpful for our teams.

“Thank you for your patience as we continue to investigate issues; we will update you all as soon as we have more news.”

Before Horizon Zero Dawn’s PC launch, Euro Gamer reported a ton of issues with the game’s PC port, saying that the game is full of technical failings “during general world traversal, UI updates, quest updates, or camera swaps in cutscenes.” Of course, the PlayStation 4 version had some technical issues as well, but they didn’t ruin the experience for most players.

As of this writing, Horizon Zero Dawn’s PC port has a 6/10 rating on Steam, with some of the reviews stating the game has serious framerate issues, and that it crashes about once per hour. Of course, the reviews aren’t all bad, as some users are saying that the game runs just fine and that players who have experienced issues since it launched should just “get a better PC.”

Last month, another former PlayStation 4 exclusive launched on PC, as Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding released to a largely positive reception, although there were some issues with it, most notably a stuttering bug, which caused the game to have glitches during cut-scenes. But, even with some issues, the game has been pretty well-received by PC users.

Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best games of the current generation, so once Guerrilla can sort out its issues on PC, the reviews will turn from mixed to positive, as most of the complaints have nothing to do with the game’s content, but rather its performance issues.
