Gemma Collins has spoken out about how she was bullied and trolled even before she was under the spotlight of fame.

The 39-year-old former TOWIE star was bullied so heavily at her all-girls school, she ended up moving to another so that she could get away from the mistreatment by her peers.

The reality star said that she was punched in the face by one rival, because she was deemed to be 'too popular' by jealous pupils.

Speaking on the new episode of The Gemma Collins Podcast, she told listeners: "I never got bullied because of my weight, I actually wasn’t overweight at school.

“I used to be bullied because I was quite popular and I was quite out there."

Gemma said they had to take some extreme action to get her out of the situation.

She continued: "Basically, I had to move schools in the end because I was bullied quite bad.

“One girl even punched me in my face and stole my purse.”

Gemma's podcast is released on BBC Sounds on Wednesday and in the revealing chat, she also spoke about how a day out with her nephews last week ended in disaster.

They had been out rowing a boat but had to abandon ship and dive into the lake after they hit rocks.

She said: “My friend Ryan thought it would be funny to crash the boat into rocks.

“He says he didn’t know the rocks were there. Obviously, in the 100 degree heat at the time, I was not convinced. I said, ‘You’ve done this on purpose!’

“You can imagine it. It was so hot I had to jump into the lake with my nephews."

The moment became more distressing when The GC worried about what creatures might be lurking below but she said they were soon have a good time.

She continued: “I was screaming, I thought some sort of snake was going to bite me, or a river rat.

“But I’ve gotta say, I absolutely enjoyed it.”

They were boating on a lake near Windsor Castle and this quickly got the reality queen wondering if the Queen herself had been dipping a toe in these waters.

Gemma said: “Then I started thinking, maybe the Queen has swum in the lake before.

“And if it’s good enough for the Queen, it’s good enough for me.”
