Gemma Atkinson turns to ‘painful’ looking treatment after fiancé Gorka Marquez’s injury

Gorka Marquez was left devastated after being forced to quit the Strictly pro tour following an injury - and now fiancée Gemma Atkinson is taking time out for herself

Gemma Atkinson has been spotted having a 'painful' looking treatment following fiancé Gorka Marquez 's tour injury.

The 37-year-old Hollyoaks star took to social media to document the procedure with fans, where she was seen having tiny needles put into the top of her neck.

It comes after Gorka was recently forced to quit the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing professionals tour after suffering from an injury.

However, Gemma assured fans that her own treatment was in fact “quite relaxing”.

Alongside a snap of herself during the procedure, she shared: "It looks a lot more painful than it is! It’s actually quite relaxing.”

It's certainly been an eventful few weeks for Gemma and partner Gorka.

Earlier this month, Gorka revealed he was no longer taking part in the Strictly tour this summer.

The 31-year-old Spanish dancer explained doctors had warned him not to appear after suffering a nasty injury.

As a result, Gorka will be replaced by Cameron Lombard on the tour.

In a statement, the star explained: "I am so sad to announce that, following medical advice, I have to withdraw from the 'Strictly Presents' tour.

"During the 'Strictly Professionals' tour I suffered an injury that, with treatment and care, let me carry on through the last few weeks of the tour.

"Unfortunately last week I had a flair up of my injury causing me a lot of pain and problems, even to walk.

"Following the advise from doctors and physios, I have had to stop my involvement in this new tour."

Gorka continued: "I am very sad not to be able to perform and dance again with @maisiesmithofficial (and the rest of the cast!) but I know the show will be amazing and the audience will be in for a real treat.

"Now it is time to rest and rehab so I can be ready for Strictly 2022. All the love and keep dancing!!!!"

Gorka has since returned home to partner Gemma and their two-year-old daughter Mia.

Meanwhile, the couple were previously forced to postpone their wedding in order to fit in Gorka's demanding tour schedule.

Gemma told New magazine: “Gorka is literally on tour all of this year. We’ve only got four days off together.

“He’s got the two Strictly tours back to back, and then he’ll be going on Strictly in the autumn. We don’t even have a minute to sit down and begin making plans!”

Gemma and Gorka got engaged in February 2021, four years after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing.
