Two of the greatest and most popular titles in the history of the long and storied Final Fantasy series are coming to the Nintendo Switch. They are Final Fantasy VII and its immediate successor, Final Fantasy VIII.
These games have been re-released in the past. In fact, they’re both even already available on the Switch console. However, they are currently being sold as digital only titles. Now, both of these classic RPGs are coming back as a single physical re-release cartridge.
Square Enix confirmed today that the twin pack will be releasing all over the world, including regions such as Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and Europe.
Both of these classic games will be featured on the same game card, creating a single copy that will be sold in stores this holiday season for $40.
The games will feature enhanced graphics and visual elements. There will also be cheat modes, allowing players to breeze through the game much faster than before.
You’ll be able to activate a triple speed mode, which allows for enhanced movement in the field and in battle, giving you a chance to sprint your way through some of the more time consuming segments of both games.
There is also a mode that lets you recover your HP and MP while also filling your ATB and Limit gauges. This makes battle far easier, giving you a chance to take down even the most difficult boss battle.
You’ll even be able to turn random battles off completely. This is especially useful when you’re trying to figure out a difficult dungeon (looking at you Temple of the Ancients) and don’t want to deal with constant distractions.
Final Fantasy VII is hailed by many as not just the greatest Final Fantasy game of all time, but the greatest RPG ever. It was so popular that Square completely remade the game from scratch, releasing the first installment of the new multi-part Final Fantasy VII Remake earlier this year.
Final Fantasy VIII had a lot to live up to in terms of quality. While it is a solid game with an interesting protagonist, it failed to capture the imagination of the masses in the same manner as Final Fantasy VII.
Final Fantasy VIII was re-released for the first time in September 2019, launching a remastered version that allowed players to once more return to the classic tale.
Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII twin pack will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch on December 4.
