Fern Britton confessed she struggled with opening boxes containing memories after her split from Phil Vickery.

The power couple sent shockwaves around the showbiz circuit when they announced their break up earlier this year after 20 years of marriage.

Worried about drudging up "bad emotions" surrounding the break up all these months later, Fern decided to get someone else to declutter her life.

Rumours have been flying her ex-husband Phil has been growing close to a sexy shepherdess in recent weeks.

The author, 63, confided in her Twitter followers about her trouble with facing many items which brought up both good and bad memories.

She wrote: "I am having trouble opening packing cases that contain many items that bring back good/bad emotions. I found I couldn’t face it."

Instead, the mother hired two women to go through her belongings for her so she didn't have to confront the past.

She added: "But today, 2 incredible women, pro declutterers, have arrived to sort it all out. I feel as if a weight has been lifted. Xmas gift to myself."

Hearts broke everywhere when Fern announced her split from Phil after 20 years.

They have their daughter Winnie together who turned 18 earlier this year.

Fern also has three children - Harry, 26, Jack, 26, and Grace, 23 - from her first marriage to Clive Jones.

It comes just a month after Fern reflected on betrayal in love following her heartbreaking split from Phil.

The bombshell re-posted the thoughtful post on her Twitter page.

Reflecting on the post about betrayal in love, Fern added the comment: "Thankyou for posting this. Whoever wrote this KNOWS ! Xx."

She elaborated: "This fits so perfectly xxx."

The original tweet which she retweeted read: "In life, you will fall out with people that you never thought you would. Get betrayed by people you trusted with all of your heart. Get used by people you would do anything for. But life also has a beautiful side to it.

"You will get loved by someone you never thought you would have. Form new friendships with people that will establish more meaningful and stronger relationships. And overcome things you never thought you would get over.
