Disney has sparked controversy and divided opinions by offering the Kardashians a new TV deal – reportedly worth $150 million (£113 million).

Earlier this year, the Kardashian family announced the end of their long-running reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which has aired on the E! Network in the USA since 2007.

And despite the family saying they wanted to enjoy life away from the cameras, Disney have now handed them a “multi-year” deal to create content for US streaming service Hulu – which Disney owns a 67% majority stake – and Star, the new international version of Hulu.

Some Disney fans have been outraged by the decision – taking to social media to slam the House of Mouse for effectively making the Kardashians ‘Disney Princesses’.

One worried Disney fan tweeted in the wake of the news: “This doesn’t make Kim Kardashian a Disney princess does it?”

A concerned fellow follower replied: “on Walt Disney's frozen chamber I hope not!”

While many others shared concern that the reality star family – of which high profile member Kim Kardashian launched her career via the release of a sex tape in 2007 – may tarnish the Disney brand.

One fan raged on Twitter : “We don’t want the kardashian! They are not a good influence on kids!”

And another wrote: “Really......The Kardashians are NOT Disney material!”

While a further fan begged: “Ugh, are you serious @Disney? Please don’t stain your brand by courting the Kardashians!”

Although others joked about the reality star family’s new status, with one tweeting: “Kim Kardashian is my favourite Disney Princess.”

While Hulu is a Disney brand it is known for creating and airing content that is much more adult than what would be expected to be released under the direct Disney Banner.
