An Everton FC anthem first released 36 years ago has stormed to No1 on the iTunes chart.
Spirit of the Blues beat Miley Cyrus to the top spot after a social media campaign by success-starved fans celebrating the Toffees topping the Premier League after winning their first three games.
The song was originally released under the banner of Everton FC in 1984.
But it was written by Billy Kinsley – star of 1960s band The Merseybeats – and pal Kenny Parry.
They roped in musician pals from their charity football team, the Merseyboots, to play and sing on the track.
Billy, 73, of Crosby, Merseyside, said: “I didn’t know anything about it and everyone was ringing me and I said, ‘I don’t know what is going on!’
“But I am absolutely delighted.”
He said he went to Goodison Park earlier this year and was “treated like a king”.
Billy got to No4 in 1966 with Sorrow by Merseybeats spin-off duo The Merseys.
