Emmerdale's Mark Jordon and fiancée Laura Norton expecting first baby together
The couple, who have been engaged for two years, have announced they are expecting their first baby together - a year after Mark Jordan was cleared of assaulting a pensioner
Emmerdale's Mark Jordon and his fiancée Laura Norton have announced they are expecting their first child together.
Mark, 55, said he guessed his partner Laura, 37, was pregnant before she even took a test.
He revealed the pair had planned on getting married and buying a house before starting a family but are delighted by the news.
"In my heart I knew before looking at the test. We both looked at the result and there was so much joy, but for a weird moment we were both deadly silent" said Mark, who was cleared of assaulting a pensioner in August 2019.
"I had tears in my eyes, we're over the moon!" added Laura in an interview with OK! magazine.
The pair met on the set of the ITV soap before announcing their engagement at the start of last year.
After keeping their relationship largely under wraps, Laura publicly supported Mark, who shares children Joseph, 22, and Poppy, 19, with former wife Siobhan Finneran, through his assault trial last year.
In July 2018, Mark was accused of assaulting Andrew Potts by biting him on the face outside the Farrars Arms pub in Oldham.
The TV star denied charges of affray, unlawful wounding and assault by beating and he was cleared by a jury in August.
Following the trial, Mark and Laura resumed planning their wedding before they discovered their surprise baby news.
Mark joked that he and Laura aren't known for 'sticking to a plan'.
The PC Phil Bellamy actor said that the baby is due on his birthday - January 25.
Laura told OK! that she has looked forward to becoming a mother for a long time and is feeling 'calm' about the prospect of having a child with fiancé Mark.
