Eminem 's fans were left horrified after #RIPEminem began trending on Twitter following a disturbing tweet from a fan which has now been deleted.
Concerns for his welfare began to mount after one Twitter user - whose account has since been suspended - wrote: "I have killed Eminem" in an alarming remark.
As far as we know, the Grammy-award winning rapper, 47, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, is alive and well - with neither his team or himself releasing anything about his health so far.
Despite that, Twitter descended into chaos as the hashtag exploded - leaving fans worried and scared the worst has happened.
One worried fan penned: "BRUH I THOUGHT EMINEM ACTUALLY DIED CAUSE IT’S 2020 AND ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN BUT IT’S JUST YALL PLAYING TOO MUCH AGAIN #ripeminem."
Another convinced fan wrote: "#ripeminem You’ll forever be in our hearts."
A third added: "Me checking twitter to make sure Eminem is okay #ripeminem."
While another agreed, adding: "Me coming after the person who got #ripeminem to go trending."
Another concerned fan wrote: "Why is #ripeminem trending he is alive stop doing this it’s 2020 aka the worst year of all time."
Mirror Online has contacted Eminem's reps for comment.
It comes as the rapper celebrated 12 years of staying sober after his complicated history with drugs, which almost killed him.
The iconic musician took to Instagram to present followers with a chip he received for his sobriety.
The famous star has openly talked about his addiction in the past, and revealed in his 2013 documentary How To Make Money Selling Drugs, he thought he was "gonna die".
Eminem admitted that his addiction from 2002 to 2008 to prescription drugs such as Vicodin, Xanax and Valium became so overwhelming his organs began shutting down.
He suffered an accidental near-fatal methadone overdose in 2007, where doctors say he was "about two hours away from dying".
That's when the star made his decision to come clean, and hasn't looked back since.
