Ellen DeGeneres launches $270 'Be Kind' gift box after toxic workplace scandal

Ellen DeGeneres has been slammed for the quality of her Be Kind gift box, which she was promoting after accusations that her show is a 'toxic workplace' for staff

Ellen DeGeneres has come under fire for launching a 'Be Kind' gift box after her show was hit by scandal this summer.

The TV host launched a new season of her gift box, which retails for $54.99 (£41.70) quarterly and $270 (£205) for the year.

She shared a video of her showing off the box, which she contains a painting set, earbuds, a collapsible cup and a gold 'hope' necklace, on her Instagram account, but her followers were less than impressed.

One commented: "Never got my summer box, can't get anyone to respond to my emails? I don't even have an account anymore for some reason, but I still have my invoice."

"The headphones in my box don't work very well - very disappointed in the quality," another posted.

A third said: "Can someone please contact me. I have sent seven emails and heard nothing back. I was double-billed for my premium box. Please contact me."

"I am still waiting for my box... it's been months," a fourth wrote.

Mirror Online has contacted Ellen's reps for comment.

It comes after Ellen's show was accused of being a 'toxic' work environment.

WarnerMedia has since launched an investigation.

And in a memo, Ellen apologised to employees: "On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect.

"Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show."

It was recently reported that employees from Ellen Digital Ventures, a digital extension of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and which produces content for EllenTube, have been laid off as WarnerMedia undergoes a restructuring.
