Ellen DeGeneres ' brother Vance has insisted she is being "viciously attacked" as the scandal surrounding her talk show continues to develop.

Ellen, 62, was slammed by accusations from staff that she has enabled a "toxic culture" behind the scenes.

The accusations have forced WarnerMedia to launch an investigation at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as rumours continue to swirl about Ellen and whether or not she will be replaced on the show.

And now her older brother, 65, has defiantly defended her on social media, admitting: "You don't know my sister."

Vance called the comedian a "bright light in a dark world" and expressed deep frustration at the targeted messages against her on social media.

Taking to Twitter, the actor penned: "If you think Ellen would knowingly allow bullying or racism on her show, you don’t know my sister.

"She has been and continues to be a bright light in a dark world. She’s one of the kindest, most generous people you’ll ever meet. And one of the funniest."

Vance then took to Facebook, where he insisted that Ellen is being "viciously attacked," and brushed off the criticism she is facing.

He wrote: "Ok, I need to say something. My sister is being viciously attacked. And let me assure you - it is all bulls**t.

"I put up a simple statement yesterday that said 'I stand by Ellen.' Only a handful of my Facebook 'friends' responded to it. If you don't support Ellen, then you don't support me, so please unfriend me.

"I'm sick and tired of my sister being attacked. She always has - and always will - stand against bullying of any kind."

He added: "She's a smart, strong woman who has made a positive difference in the world. And to my friends who did respond with support for Ellen and my family, thank you so much. It means a lot."

The countless allegations have led to Ellen issuing an apology to all staff for how they have been treated with a promise for a better way forward.

Ellen has found herself engulfed in accusations of bullying behaviour by employees, past guests, and fellow celebs – with many insisting her mean nature is common knowledge among the Hollywood elite.

Earlier this week, Ellen's wife Portia de Rossi showed public support for her wife on Instagram.

Portia - who's been married to Ellen since 2008 - captioned her post: "To all our fans....we see you. Thank you for your support."

She added a number of hashtags that lent some more meaning to her thoughts - #stopbotattacks, #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres, #IStandByEllen, #IstandByEllenDeGeneres ‬and #bekindtooneanother.

The final phrase is what Ellen uses to finish her show each day, while the reference of "bot attacks" have left many scratching their heads as to what she is allegeing.

Meanwhile, a number of celebs have spoken out in support of Ellen, including Katy Perry, Kevin Hart, Alec Baldwin, Diane Keaton, polo player Nacho Figueras.
