Adam Woodyatt has shared a heartwarming throwback snap of EastEnders' original cast mates, ahead of his exit from the soap.

The actor - who has been on the hit soap as Ian Beale for more than 36 years - fuelled nostalgia as he shared a snap of the OG actors since first appearing on our screens in 1984.

Since his EastEnders debut more than three decades ago, Ian has become the show's longest-serving cast member, and has enjoyed a very interesting storyline.

Taking to Instagram, the soap star uploaded a sentimental throwback snap with fans to mark a whopping 36 years since appearing on the show.

The sweet snap showed Adam crack a smile alongside his on-screen mum Kathy Beale, played by Gillian Taylforth.

He wrote: "29th October 1984 was the start of my first contract with @bbceastenders.

"36 years later, three of us are still dancing and messing around outside the Queen Vic."

It comes as Adam is set to take an "extended break" from the soap.

The break comes after news came to light that Adam had split from his wife of 22 years Beverly Sharp.

Adam - who married Bev in 1998 - was reportedly the one who made the decision to end the romance, but insiders insist there is no third party involved.

A source told The Sun at the time: "Beverley was naturally very upset, as anybody would be in the circumstances, but these things happen and it’s a straightforward separation.

"Nobody plans for these things and divorce is a difficult thing to get your head around but they have dealt with it quietly for several months and are now telling friends so it’s less of a secret.

"They still get on well, and are keen to make sure they stay that way for the sake of their children – even though they are now grown up."
