Devastated Dr Alex George was forced to defend himself against a sick social media troll who told him to get off Instagram after his brother's death.

He told followers that he was 'holding on by a thread' after Llŷr lost his life last month.

The former Love Island star revealed the heartbreaking news that he had "lost [his] beautiful little brother to mental health" two weeks ago.

Llŷr was 10 years Alex's junior and was looking to follow in the footsteps of his big brother with a future in medicine.

The mourning star was made to shut down the cruel user who took issue with him posting.

Alex took a screen grab of a message he was sent after posting about his trip to the seaside.

"Your brother is dead.. get off social media," the troll told him.

The NHS doctor bit back, writing: "Imagining being this person. I'm holding by a thread and you get people like this."

The 30-year-old went on to explain why going online was helping him with the grieving process.

He wrote: "I am honest and open with you all. The good, the bad and the ugly.

"There is so much that isn't shared online of course. So many of you are so kind and message me each day with well wishes.

"I often post to let you know I am still going strong x."

He thanked fans for their support following the tragic death of his younger brother.

Alex left everyone stunned when he announced Llŷr had died a fortnight ago.

"I can’t believe I am actually writing this post," he penned at the time.

"I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health.

"I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

"We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy."
