Dominic West's wife is 'fuming' but put on show of unity for cameras, say pals
Friends of Catherine Fitzgerald insist she 'wont take any c**p' from her actor husband - despite her welcoming him home in front of the cameras yesterday
Catherine Fitzgerald's 'doting wife' look for the cameras yesterday was 'all an act' according to her pals who say she is actually furious with Dominic West.
Mum-of-four Catherine welcomed her husband back to the family home with open arms on Tuesday days after photographs emerged of him snuggling up to his co-star Lily James in Rome.
Waiting on the doorstep of their Cotswold mansion, Catherine happily hugged her hubby of ten years and held in her hand a note that read 'Our marriage is strong and we're still very much together. Thank you' seemingly putting rumours of a rift to bed.
However, friends close to Catherine have claimed to the MailOnline that inside she is is seething about those pictures of her husband.
"She is privately fuming,' they said. "There are some difficult conversations to be had, but those will take place behind closed doors.
"For now she was happy to display a show of unity and will always put her family first."
Another friend of Catherine's told the publication: "I saw those pictures today. I don't know what's going on. Catherine is very direct. There's no nonsense with her.
"She's always been kind and sweet but she doesn't take c**p. I think anyone who knows her would say that. She's a very cool person. I just hope she's ok."
Married Dominic, 50, and Mama Mia actress Lily, 31, stunned onlookers as they rode around Rome on an electric scooter together over the weekend.
Affair actor Dominic looked very comfortable with Lily as he wrapped his arms around her on the bike as they took in the sights, before the pair stopped off at restaurant.
As they sat down to eat Dominic was seen grinning ecstatically as he leaned in towards Lily with his hand stroking her neck.
The pair, who share a 20 year age gap, are set to star in an adaptation of Nancy Mitford's novel The Pursuit of Love which they began filming in July.
Photographs of the pair enjoying an Italian holiday emerged after it was confirmed on Thursday that Lily has split from her The Crown co-star Matt Smith for good.
The pair had tried to rekindle their romance in lockdown after spending five years in an on-off relationship.
While Dominic has been married to his wife Catherine, who he met at university, for ten years.
