i_o dead: DJ and producer Garrett Lockhart dies aged 30
Gareth Lockhart, who performed professionally as i_o has passed away, according to a statement posted to his social media accounts
DJ and producer Garrett Lockhart has passed away at the age of 30.
The EDM artist, who performed under the moniker i_o, passed away on Monday, according to a statement posted to his social media accounts.
No cause of death was given.
The full statement on his Instagram page read: "On Monday, November 23rd, the world lost a beautiful soul, Garrett Falls Lockhart, also known as i_o.
"This extremely talented spirit taught us that even if nothing matters, you can still lead with love.'
"Garrett's truth and soul lives on through the music he shared.'
"Rest in peace Garrett. We love you."
The EDM DJ is from Washington, DC and has also performed under the name Fawks.
He is probably best known for collaborating with Grimes on her track, Violence, from her 2019 album Miss Anthropocene.
He is also known for his tracks Low, Death by Techno and Don't Stop.
The techno and deep house producer recently signed to one of the most prestigious dance music labels, Armada Music.
He also launched his own Label 444 imprint as well as collaborating on deadmau5's mau5trap album.
The DJ worried many of his followers with an Instagram post six days before he passed away.
Sharing a photo of him behind his decks, Garrett ominously captioned the pic: "do u ever question ur life?"
After months of being unable to perform due to Covid-19 restrictions, Garrett performed his first live show in nine months, just 10 days before his death.
Performing at Club Space Miami, he promised in a tweet that it would be an opportunity for fans to "say your goodbyes."
Garrett tweeted ahead of the show: “first time back at space in 9 months? better believe im gonna hit another level tmrw. say your goodbyes.”
