Dingodile Will Be A Playable Character In Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

During Sony’s recent State of Play live stream, Toys for Bob showed off some new gameplay from Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, which is currently scheduled to be released in October. In the video, one of the game’s producers, Lou Studdert, showed off some new gameplay, while revealing that Dingodile will be a playable character in the upcoming fourth installment.

“After Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Dingodile hung up his old flamethrower-rocket launcher combo and retired from a life of villainy,” said Studdert during Sony’s State of Play. “But now he’s back with unfinished business, falling through space and time into another dimension where his adventure to return home begins.”

You can check out the footage from Sony’s State of Play in the video below.

Also, we learned that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time won’t have any microtransactions, but it will have several character skins to unlock. Also, some of the skins are only available for PlayStation 4 users, as Sony has timed exclusivity on some of the game’s unlockables.

“Arriving first on PlayStation are two additional sets of skins for Crash and Coco awarded automatically after players complete the second level of the game and access the Dimensional Map. These skins, dubbed ‘Marsupus Erectus’ and ‘Serious Upgrade,’ will be available on other platforms no earlier than 31st December, 2021.”

As previously mentioned, Crash Bandicoot 4, which is the first mainline game in the series in over a decade, will be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 2, but as of this writing, there’s been no word regarding whether or not it’ll be available for next-gen consoles.

Crash Bandicoot’s fourth main installment will feature a new game mode, called N. Verted, which is similar to Mario Kart’s mirror mode. While playing the game’s N. Verted mode, the levels will feature different variations of weird art styles, some of which are very colorful, while others will have a black and white filter. Also, it’s worth noting that Toys for Bob worked with Beenox, the developers behind Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled while developing the N. Verted mode.

While we don’t know how long Crash 4 will be, the game will feature over 100 levels, making it the biggest standalone Crash Bandicoot game in the series. To compare, the entire N’Sane Trilogy featured 83 (Crash 1: 26, Crash 2: 27, Crash Warped: 32), so the fourth game will have more levels than the first three games combined.

Crash 4 will feature four playable characters: Crash Bandicoot, Coco Bandicoot, Dingodile, and Dr. Neo Cortex.
