Holly Willoughby is worried that she might have to choose between which parents she can see at Christmas because of new coronavirus restrictions.

The 39-year-old This Morning star was discussing the government's latest lockdown measures on today's show when she lamented about her potential Christmas dilemma.

The mum of three suggested that she might be forced to choose between mum Lynne, 71, or father Terry because of the guidelines.

New UK rules as of Monday state that only six people are allowed to gather together.

People caught breaking the rules will faces fines of £100 that will double for re-offenders.

As per the six person rule, Holly admitted it might get 'awkward' in her house as she would have to choose which parent her family of five can see at Christmas.

"A lot of people are thinking, "What will this mean for Christmas? What will Christmas look like?" she said on today's show.

"It's going to be very awkward in my house as I'm a family-of-five, so I'll have to choose between my mum and dad on Christmas day!"

While discussing the confusing rules with Matthew Wright, he added: "I'm feeling very confused and conflicted. The rules are different everywhere else in the United Kingdom.

He continued: "You can't have your parents over on Christmas Day but you can go on public transport? For the life of me, I can't make any sense of it."

Holly then questioned how the rules could be policed over the coming months.

The country is set to face new restrictions from September 14 following a sharp spike in infections.

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the rules have been put in place in attempt to prevent a second national lockdown.

However, some holes have been pointed out in the new guidelines.

Namely, gatherings larger than six people are still permitted for work and school purposes.
