Democrats Are to Be Blamed for US Coronavirus Crisis, Actor Chris Rock Says — Is It True?

In an interview with the New York Times, Chris Rock blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats for focusing too much on the impeachment, instead of limiting the negative consequences of the coronavirus.

As the first cases of the novel virus were confirmed in our country in the winter, the Democrats were indulged in President Trump's impeachment over the Ukraine scandal. They could have done more to prevent the crisis, Rock opined.

The ''Fargo'' season 4 star linked President Trump to a five-year-old kid. He referred to the 1987 movie "The Last Emperor," which featured a child ruler.

Rock noted that wherever there is a child ruler, they only lead in theory. There is always an adult to take the wheel, he said. In his view, in the US, these are the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi.

We know that the Republicans tell ''outright lies,'' the comedian highlighted, adding that the Democrats often leave out essential pieces of the truth that would lead to a more nuanced debate. In a way, it's all fake news, Rock concluded.

The actor also noted that as a property mogul, Donald Trump is also a landlord. '' No one has less compassion for humans than a landlord,'' Rock said. According to him, that is why Trump does not look like to be engaged and compassionate during the health crisis.

Asked about the Jimmy Fallon's blackface scandal, The Grown Ups actor admitted he was not offended. Moreover, Rock opined that Fallon did not aim to insult anyone when he impersonated the comedian while in blackface on Saturday Night Live in 2000.

Rock revealed that Fallon is a good friend of him and a ''great guy'' who would never aim to offend anybody. Some other celebrities, including Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, Robert Downey Jr. were heavily criticized for using blackface around the same time.

When asked about racism, the Fargo star said it is ''real'' and ''not going away.'' In his view, Barack Obama becoming president was progress not for black people but for the white people.

Rock also differentiated the Black Lives Matter movement from the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s. Martin Luther King did not ask for money but for a more humane attitude. If they had to do it all over again, there would be a conversation about the financial disparity, Rock opined.

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with the Rock's statement that the Democrats are to be blamed for the health crisis?
