Deborah James beams at Royal Ascot as she celebrates ‘still living whilst dying’

Deborah James, 40, flashed a beaming smile for the cameras at Royal Ascot on Wednesday, days after she candidly opened up about the realities of "still living whilst dying ".

The campaigner - who is currently receiving hospice care at her parents' home - looked chic and stylish at Ascot Racecourse in a polka-dot mini dress and eye-catching oversized hat, as she attended the annual event with family.

Deborah accessorized her cute outfit with some statement white shoes - complete with gold detailing - and a matching white clutch bag.

The podcast host beamed as she posed alongside her brother Benjamin James and his fiance Ashley at the star-studded racing event - with jazz singer Natalie Rushdie also grabbing a snap with the inspiring fundraiser.

Deborah was initially diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer back in December 2016, at 35 years old.

After choosing to share her experiences online, the 40-year-old became known as the 'Bowel Babe', and went on to become one of three presenters on BBC Radio 5 Live's You, Me and the Big C.

Last month, after telling her fans "the time has come to say goodbye", the mum-of-two began her biggest fundraising campaign to date - with £6,708,139 so far being raised for her Bowel Babe Fund since the star informed the world she was receiving end of life care.

Earlier this week, Deborah - who was recently honoured with a Damehood - made the most of the British summer time, as she enjoyed Bloody Marys in the sun and discussed 'still living whilst dying'.

The fundraiser shared a clip of all the necessary ingredients to make the cocktail as people helped themselves to the alcoholic beverage.

She wrote: "#bloodymarys Sundowner vibes with the bro!" while a relaxing song played in the background.

In a seperate post, the cancer awareness campaigner discussed her love of still attending events and parties while she is "able to", but it can be a struggle at times.

"Anyone that’s followed me for years knows that the British season is my favourite time of the year hence why all my @inthestyle dresses are named after events!! So I figured My aim is just try to fit in a few whilst I’m still kicking around and am able to!" Deborah told her Instagram followers.

"But be under no illusion! I’m knackered! I’ve worked out it takes me longer to get ready and organised to go than the time I actually last anywhere!! Getting dressed is tiring, getting meds organised is tiring, the extra moving, the travel, the wondering what mood your stomach is in - its all real!

"But then the feeling of making it to something you didn’t think possible, having put make up on, donning new shoes (that finally arrived in the right size for massively swollen feet!), with the sunshine smiling - well then it’s all worth it! It’s a kind of cheeky “still living whilst dying” two fingers up to it all!!"

On May 9, Deborah told her fans the "time has come to say goodbye" from her parents home where she is currently receiving enf of life care, after five years of battling the terminal illness.

"I’m under hospice at home care, & I’m spending my time surrounded by my family. Please buy me a wine to see me out and raise vital funds," Deborah wrote within her heartbreaking social media update.

Within 24 hours of the campaigner posting online, her fundraiser hit £1million in donations - with the figure steadily rising and now approaching £7million.
