Dawn French revealed she dumped an ex-flame – because he was a Tory.
The actress opened up about dating after splitting with Lenny Henry in 2010.
Dawn, 63, told the How To Wow podcast: “I did have a nice time with one chap. He was quite posh.
“I thought, ‘I can’t go any further, I can’t think what it is, you’re attractive, I’ve got the right underwear on. I worked out what it was. He was a Tory!’”
The actress, who married second husband Mark Bignell in 2013, admitted on the podcast that she was “so very bad” at dating in her 50s.
She explained: “I was so bad at it. So very very bad. I had a couple of dates with various folk before I hooked up with Mark and it was sort of excruciating.
"The decision about what underwear you are going to wear. Everything in my drawer was nice and big and a little bit grey and tired elastic. The shocking fact is some of my underwear is 30 years old."
Dawn, who is set to return to our screens this Christmas as the Vicar of Dibley also joked she “wouldn’t say no” to hooking up with Labour leader Keir Starmer.
She added: “I think he’s good for labour. I mean I wouldn’t say no, well I probably would say no as I’m married. He’s a very attractive man but that’s not the point. He’s going to do the business.”
