The professionals and celebrities of Strictly Come Dancing might want to break up with their significant others ahead of the new series as predictions abound that the ‘curse’ will be worse than ever this year.

With the 2020 season of the long running BBC dancing contest set to waltz onto the screen next month, show judge Craig Revel Horwood has shared his views on how the series will progress.

And he predicts the current coronavirus pandemic and the measures that the BBC are bringing in to force to let the show go forward smoothly will be a recipe for affairs.

Strictly is no stranger to witnessing marriage and romance break ups once stars get paired with their sexy dance partners.

And 55-year-old Craig thinks the alleged curse will strike harder than ever before in the upcoming 18th series.

He told The Sun on Sunday: “I think it’s going to be more intense, isn’t it? Because they’re in a lockdown situation with each other.”

However the star thinks the break-ups and love matches that appear in the wake of the show are more of a blessing than a curse.

He said: “Anyway, I always think of it as the Strictly blessing — look how many marriages we’ve had out of it.

“We’ve had people falling in love. We’ve had babies. How can people call it the ‘curse’? If you’re in a relationship that’s not going anywhere, it’s not good in the first place.”

Over the past 16 years that Strictly has aired, a number of high profile marriages have been broken and created due to the show.

Original series star Natasha Kaplinsky and pro dancer Brendan Cole have long been rumoured to have been the first stars touched by the curse – although neither have confirmed or denied rumours that they fell for each other during their time as dance partners on the show.

Natasha had been single at the time of her involvement in Strictly, but Brendan was engaged to fellow professional dancer Camilla Dallerup.
