Courteney Cox sends Matthew Perry birthday message amid claims 'he's always been in love with her'

Friends star Courtneney Cox has wished her former on-screen husband Matthew Perry a happy birthday amid claims that he has always been in love with her

Friends star Courteney Cox has posted an adorable birthday message for her old on-screen husband Matthew Perry.

The pair starred opposite each other on the legendary sitcom for ten years from 1994 to 2004 as Monica Geller and Chandler Bing.

Across the course of the show's run, the two characters began a romantic relationship, married, and had children together.

Now Courteney, 56, has taken to her Instagram page to share sweet 51st birthday message with her former on-screen husband, Matthew.

Sharing a throwback image of her and Matthew together, Courteney captioned the post on her Instagram Story: "Happy birthday to my talented, funny friend! @mattyperry4".

The sweet message comes following a claim that Matthew never stopped being in love with Courteney following their time together on Friends.

"Matthew’s always been in love with her," a source told US Weekly last year.

"Matthew has never fully been able to get over her."

Courtney has previously had a romantic relationship with Hollywood star Michael Keaton from 1989 to 1995 before being married to actor David Arquette from 1999 to 2013.

She has been in a romantic relationship with musician and Snow Patrol star Johnny McDaid since late 2013.

Meanwhile, Matthew was in a relationship with Mean Girls star Lizzy Caplan from 2006 to 2013, before reportedly dating Molly Hurwitz for two years prior to their break-up in May this year.

A source at the time told In Touch Weekly : “It was very amicable."

It was previously reported by Perez Hilton that Courteney and Matthew had struck up a romance during a brief split she had from Johnny in 2015.

However, the former Friends stars denied any romance at the time.

In May, Courteney spoke on The Ellen DeGeneres Show about being separated from Johnny McDaid during the coronavirus pandemic.

"You don’t realise, and we spend a lot of time on Facetime but I just miss his physical touch," said Courteney. "This is hard."

"He left, he was supposed to go to Switzerland to write, but he had to go to England first and then all of a sudden it happened, they called quarantine, so it has been so long."
