Courteney Cox will be dicing with death – and reuniting with her ex-husband – as she has confirmed she is returning to the Scream franchise as her character, Gale Weathers.
The 56-year-old actress has played ambitious news reporter Gale in all four Scream films so far, and confirmed on Friday that she will be back for round five.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Courteney shared a video of the infamous “Ghost Face” mask form the horror film franchise on her page.
She accompanied the video with links to three other Instagram pages – the official Scream movie page, Paramount Picture’s page, and SpyGlass Media’s page.
Her notice followed reports that she had been cast to feature in the upcoming film – set to be helmed by directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett following the death of original director, Wes Craven, in 2015.
While Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt have been attached to write the script and original film writer Kevin Williamson is set to executive produce.
The announcement of Courteney’s return followed the news that ex-husband David Arquette, 48, is returning in his role as Sheriff Dwight "Dewey" Riley.

Courteney previously said she and David “fell in love” on set of the first film, but “hated each other” during the filming of the second film in 1997.
While David previously joked he “tricked” Courteney in to marrying him two years later.
He said previously: “Was it love at first sight? For me it was, but not for her.
“I had to trick her. We met at a pre-party before we started filming Scream. I was being a little cocky and Courteney was like, 'Ah, I've heard of you,' and we just kept flirting for a while.
“She's just so gorgeous and she jokes around so much."
