Coronation Street favourite Maureen Lipman is said to have signed a new contract with the ITV soap to stay until 2021.
The actress, who has played Evelyn Plummer since 2018, will reportedly remain on the long-running series until next winter.
A source revealed Corrie bosses are "thrilled" that Maureen, 74, will continue to play her straight-talking character on the soap for another year.
They told The Sun : "Corrie bosses are thrilled they've managed to secure Maureen for another year.
"Very few people can match her for comic timing and she has achieved 'fan favourite' status in no time at all.
"She is certain to be at the centre of plenty more drama on the cobbles until winter 2021 - at least."
The actress has only just made her return to the soap after filming was brought to a halt due to the lockdown.
Back in June, the soap star told Lorraine Kelly on her daytime show: "I'm very aware that I'm incredibly lucky to have Coronation Street to look forward to in September when the wrinklies get unrolled."
And she was so happy to return to work following the shutdown.
Maureen hit the headlines in recent weeks as it was announced she will be made a dame in the Queen's birthday honours.
Her damehood is set to come 21 years after she was made a CBE.
She began her career on the TV around 50 years ago and has featured in huge films including The Pianist, Educating Rita and the sitcom Agony.
Mirror Online has contacted Maureen's rep for comment.
