Colin Farrell looked unrecognisable as he stepped into full costume on the set of the latest Batman movie.

The 44-year-old actor, known for his work on In Bruges and The Lobster, was spotted on the set of Batman in Liverpool all dressed up as his villainous character Oswald Cobblepot.

The Irish star looked completely unrecognisable as he donned a full face of prosthetics and showed of his thinning head of hair.

Colin was dressed in a large leather coat and a smart pin striped suit, and finished the ensemble off with the Penguin's famous umbrella.

The actor was on set with fellow stars Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz as the production geared up for filming on the new movie.

Robert - who is assuming the role of Batman - was dressed in a smart dark suit, having recently recovered from contracting coronavirus.

Kravitz, dressed in sky high leather boots, is playing Selina Kyle and was pictured showing off her sexy ensemble while they filmed a sombre funeral scene.

A vintage-looking black Batmobile was also on set alongside a large collection of cast and crew members.

The cast descended upon Liverpool's St George's Hall, with the northern location assuming the backdrop of Gotham City for the scene.

Batman fans were relieved to hear that filming had begun on the film, with the movie's release date set for 2022.

The first teaser of the film was released back in August when the official trailer dropped at the virtual DC FanDome convention.

As with many productions, filming for Batman had been postponed in March in order to keep the cast and crew safe during the pandemic.

The movie became one of the first major productions to return to the set after the government gave producers the go-ahead over the summer.

Although filming was able to resume, the set was shut yet again within a matter of days when Robert Pattinson tested positive for Covid-19 at the start of September.

The cast and crew are all adhering to strict quarantine rules as they attempt to get filming complete throughout the week.
